Minutes from Blue Knights PEI 1 April 3, 2004

Executive meeting held prior to general meeting to start transfer of club account from Alberton to Charlottetown. Two signatures will still be required to cash a cheque. Several outstanding bills were paid and discussion was held to determine where vests and rockers should be ordered.

PEI 1 now has 33 registered members.

We must pay .72 cents American for each member to Northeast Conference.

General meeting, 15:00 22 in attendance

-Introduction of those present, welcome by President.

-Moment of silence.

-Past Secretary read minutes from last meeting which was held August 2003.

-Discussion on how we will conduct rides for 2004, VP gave an overview.

We will not sponsor rides this year due to cost of insurance and possible civil action should an accident take place during the run.

We will ride as a group at the back of the pack in any of the runs we do attend. This will allow us to drive the speed limit and obey all traffic signage. If the actions of others digress to the extent that our road captains and President believe the ride is not safe, we will leave the group and proceed on our own or abandon the ride completely. Want to keep fun in the rides and ensure we display the proper image.

Discussion on possibly holding Show & Shines instead of sponsoring runs.

-Vests will be ordered once a year, this will save costs and ensure all vests are the same.

-Discussion on rides for 2004

District picnic in Digby June 15, (this use to be the Atlantic Conference meeting.)

The picnic will be held in Edmonston, New Brunswick in 2005

It is proposed that PEI hold it in 2006.

No Garnet is not sleeping during one of Carlo's speeches, just dreaming of new rides.
Visitors from other Chapters are all ways welcome.
Meetings are traditionally held on saturday mornings with some sort of ride afterwards. We have had visitors attend from Maryland, NS, NB, and Nfld.,

Bike Blessing Re-Scheduled
Important Notice!

A follow up to my telephone calls regarding our postponement due to rain and cool temperatures.

New Date: 17 May 2003
New Time: 1:00 p.m. is start of blessing ceremony
Same Place: Burger King parking lot University Ave, Charlotteown

Many of us were disappointed that the event didn't go today, but it is welcome news to five of our members who were unable to make it due to the crab fishing dispute in New Brunswick. Looks like they might be able to ride with us next weekend.

Paul Pittman will also be home for a break from policing Canada's North - cranked and ready to rumble. Donna Johnson's "raindance" worked for him for this weekend - lets see if she can work some magic with the sun next week!

Apart from the guys working in NB it looked like just about everyone else was primed and ready to go for today. Word on the street was also very encouraging with a high degree of awareness and numerous reports of other bikers planning to attend - including a contingent from our own NS 1 led by the legendary Gerry White.

Should be even better for next Saturday as it is a long weekend and we have a later start time (much better for the out-of-town crowd). We also won't have to compete with the Royal Bank Cup hoekey tourney or the UPEI Graduation Ceremonies.

Carlo: Can you give us an update on the much anticipated delivery of the new vests - sure would be nice to sport them on Saturday! If they are ready I would suggest having the recipients show up at the Blessing around 12:00 to get them distributed and cash exchanged.

Everyone: If you posted a notice regarding the event somewhere please ensure that it gets updated with the new time and date. I know that Bush Dumville and Tony Halvorson have done most of the bike shops already.

Bush notified the various media (some have already confirmed that they will be on site May 17th), the Harley Owners Group, and the Solicitor General (he's game again for next week). Bush also graciously volunteered to continue to post the notice on the Burger King promotion boards in Summerside and Charlottetown - thanks Bush. Neil Smith has notified the CNIB of the change and they will be there to issue receipts on Saturday.

I'll be in Labrador Wednesday and Thursday of next week, but should be back in Charlottetown by noon on Friday. Please leave an e-mail if anything comes up, or a message at 368-2602 - I will be in touch ASAP. I will have a short meeting at 12:30 May 17th at Burger King with all those who have expressed an interest, or are interested in being "outriders" to assist with traffic control.

Many thanks to those who helped out with the planning this week. Lets have everyone make an extra effort to spread the word again all week to help make our 1st annual Bike Blessing and Run a memorable one for all participants.

See you all on Saturday and as always - Ride with Pride!

p.s. All members and guests:
Don't forget about our Atlantic Region Conference at the Mountain Gap Inn near Digby, NS June 20-22nd. - It is a truly beautiful spot. I booked my room this week and learned the resort is pretty much booked up. Other alternatives are available. If you don't have the info package get in contact with Gerry or Nancy White of NS1asap at
